Dentures are the traditional method used to replace missing teeth. All of our dentures are custom made to fit your mouth exactly, meaning they are more comfortable & functional.
Why Would I Need A Denture?
If you have lost a few teeth or unfortunately all of your teeth, then dentures may be the solution for you. There are two main types of dentures:
- Partial – these are made to fit around your remaining teeth, giving you a nice complete smile
- Complete – these are used to fully replace all of your missing teeth
What Are Dentures Made Out Of?
There are a variety of materials that can be used to make dentures. The most common are acrylic & cobalt chrome, and they can also be a mixture of the two. Depending on your own situation, your dentist may recommend a certain type of denture which will give you the most benefits.
Dentures can also be securely fitted to dental implants which gives you the best of both worlds in terms of stability & functionality.
How Are Dentures Made?
An impression of your mouths are taken. These are sent to a dental laboratory that we work with. A special tray will be made and used for a secondary set of impressions (for greater accuracy). From the second set a try in denture will be made for you to wear. We will be able to see how it fits and you can tell us how it feels. Further refinements will be made for the final denture to be made.
After the final fit, there will be a bedding in period for your mouth to acclimitise itself to the denture. Further refinements can be expected to get the denture spot on and ideal for your mouth. This process is usually completed over a 5 week period.
